1
Release the front brake cable by sliding the brake cable out of its quick-release connecting clamp on the front brake. Then pull on the brake lever on the handle bars and slide the cable out of its housing.
-
2
Squeeze a few drops of lubricant onto the cable. The lubricant will ease down along the length of the cable. Slide the cable back into its housing and reconnect the cable in the quick-release mechanism on the front brake.
-
3
Turn the bike's pedals and adjust the bike's chain to the largest sprocket. Then shift the gear lever controller clockwise all the way to the back, putting the chain on the largest sprocket. This will allow you to easily pull the rear brake cable from the bike frame.

4
Tug downward on the upper section of the cable sleeve to expose the upper cable wire. Then pull the lower section of the sleeve and slide it off the derailer. Squeeze a few drops of lubricant into the exposed upper part of the cables.
-
5
Reconnect the lower sleeve to the derailer and then connect the upper sleeve back into the cable housing. Turn the gear lever back into the largest sprocket slot before rotating the rear tire.
