How to Get an H2 Hang Gliding Certification

Hang gliding is an aerial sport where a pilot flies a hang glider. A hang glider is a lightweight aircraft without a motor that can be launched by foot. The United States Hang Gliding and Paragliding Association, or USHPA, regulates hang gliding and issues pilot ratings, such as the H-2 Hang Gliding Certification. The certifications reflect completion of witnessed tasks like setup and pre-flight of glider, harness and reserve parachute. Certifications range from the H-0 Student Hang Gliding rating to H-5 or Master Hang Gliding rating.

Complete all requirements for the H-2 Hang Gliding Rating. According to the United States Hang Gliding and Paragliding Association, pilot proficiency ratings and certifications are obtained in order, starting with the student or beginner rating. You must have already obtained the Student Hang Gliding Rating (H-0) and the Beginner Hang Gliding Rating (H-1) before you can certify for the H-2 or Novice Hang Gliding Rating. However, if you qualify, Beginner and Novice ratings may be issued at the same time.
