How to Do a Pell Seat

A pell seat is a specialized tool for .177 caliber pellets and pellet guns. Simple in design, the pell seat pushes the rear end of the pellet with a fitted tip, opening out the soft pellet metal so it conforms closer to the air gun bore. This makes the pellet fly faster and more accurately as it leaves the barrel.

Instructions

    • 1

Place a .177 pellet into the chamber of the air gun. Load it as normal but leave the chamber open.

    • 2

Push the round, ball-tip of the pell seat into the pellet's skirt.

    • 3

Apply slight pressure to the skirt with the pell seat. The pell seat has a round tip that expands the skirt of the pellet if it is deformed; in addition, the pell seat has a recessed skirt that when applied to the pellet compresses the skirt if it is too wide.

    • 4

Pull the pell seat out after applying gentle pressure. Close the chamber and take the shot.
