How to Board an Inflatable From the Water

Inflatable toys are used in pools, lakes and oceans during the summer months -- when people lounge poolside -- or spend a day at the beach. Getting onto an inflatable is manageable when you do it from dry land. However, if you suddenly fall off the inner tube, or are pushed off in a playful fight, getting back onto the inflatable toy is a bit of a challenge. There are many types of inflatable water toys such as inner tubes, chairs, inflatable paddle boards and floating docks. While getting onto each from the water will differ slightly, the basic steps are the same.

Instructions

    • 1

Move toward the middle of the inflatable object.

    • 2

Grab onto the middle of the object with both hands.

    • 3

Pull the inflatable object toward you on a downward angle, while simultaneously kicking your legs. Your legs propel you up out of the water, while pulling down on the inflatable object moves it underneath you.

    • 4

Slide your stomach onto the object, until you are laying across it. You now have a point of balance. Your body is laying in the middle of the inflatable, while there is an equal amount of the inflatable on either side.

    • 5

Re-position your body, until you are sitting or lying on the inflatable as desired. Keep your movements slow so you maintain balance. Moving too fast causes you to lose your balance and you'll end up back in the water again.
