How to Dismantle a KWA M16 Airsoft Gun

The KWA M16 Airsoft Gun (also known as the KWA KM16BR Battle Rifle) is an airsoft gun constructed of metal alloy. Modeled after the M16A3, the KWA KM16BR comes with range and power, but for the airsoft enthusiast, the gun also comes with the ability to be easily modified or repaired. Disassembly of the gun is necessary to apply any necessary repairs or desired modifications. The gun’s design, however, simplifies the process by gathering critical operational parts into easily accessible areas within the casing.

      Remove the ammunition magazine from the gun by pressing the magazine release button located above the trigger on the right side of the gun and pulling the magazine from its chamber.

      Remove the L-shaped Allen key from its position on the left side of the gun’s housing above the gun grip.

      Use the small end of the Allen key to remove the retaining pin located on the right side of the gun casing above the gun grip. Unscrew the pin cap on the left side of the casing holding the pin in place, then pull the pin out of the gun casing.

      Snap the barrel of the gun forward by firmly hitting the top of the barrel while pulling the handle upwards until it pivots from the lower gun casing. As the barrel flips forward on the pivot point located just forward of the ammunition magazine housing, the inside of the gun containing the air chamber and springs will be revealed.

      Reach into the barrel of the gun to slide the inner barrel tube from the outer barrel casing. The tube will detach with the hop-up barrel still in place on the end.

      Flip the outer barrel back onto the main gun body. Remove the screw on the left side of the gun casing where the barrel meets the rest of the gun body just forward of the ammunition magazine housing. Use the Allen key on this screw as well. This is the screw securing the pivot point pin.

      Pull the barrel and the top of the gun casing away from the lower gun casing once the pin has been removed, completing the gun disassembly. This will give you complete access to all parts contained in the gun housing.
