Determine how much you will play before choosing a racket. A cheap table tennis racket can cost as little as $10, but will not last long if you play much. A top-of-the-line racket can cost as much as $100, but could be a good investment because it lasts much longer. If you're going to play a lot, choose a high-quality racket.

Protect your equipment after you're through playing. When you are done playing, clean the rubber of your table tennis racket with water and a soft cloth. Place a drop of water in the center of the rubber and gently move the towel in a circular motion to the clean it.

Place protective plastic sheets over your racket when it's not in use. Specialty table tennis shops sell plastic sheets which fit perfectly over the rubber of table tennis rackets. The sheets will protect your racket from scratches and dings.

    • 4

Put your racket in a case. Purchase a case which zips up and encloses your racket. This will keep your racket safe from other equipment during storage.

    • 5

Store all of your equipment in one bag. Keeping all of your table tennis equipment in one bag ensures nothing gets lost. The bag will also protect your equipment from moisture or from being stepped on.

Use a cover to protect your table tennis table. The table is probably your most expensive piece of equipment so take good care of it. Find a cover at a specialty shop to protect your table when you are not using it.
