1
Fill the bucket with warm water and one cup of white vinegar. Dip the horsehair brush and toothbrush into the solution.
-
2
Open the vest and spread it out so you have access to the mildew stains. Scrub the vinegar solution on the mildew with the horsehair brush. Scrub vigorously. Use the toothbrush to scrub the small and hard-to-reach areas such as those next to zippers or clips.
-
3
Push away any webbing or straps, and scrub under these areas. Rinse the vest of the vinegar solution. Inspect the vest to ensure the mildew is off and gone. If not, repeat the scrubbing and rinsing until the mildew is removed.

4
Fill the bucket with warm water and some dish soap. Scrub the vest down with the soapy water to rid the vest of the vinegar solution. Rinse the vest fully and hang out to dry.
