1
Unload you handgun and place it in the proper lock box for transport to the gun store. Ensure there is a trigger lock on the weapon, and place the safety to "on." Go to a gun shop with a selection of concealment holsters.
-
2
Provide the gun-shop employee with your handgun. Look over the holsters sized for your weapon. Decide if you wish to use an ankle, hip-waist or shoulder concealment-holster.
-
3
Secure the handgun in the holster and attach it to your body. Feel for flex in movement relative to your body. Look in a mirror to determine if the holster is hidden from view.
-
4
Select a "strong side" waist holster if you desire quick and ready access to the firearm. Strong-side holsters go on the side of the waist beneath your shooting arm. A sport jacket or suit coat hides the holster from view.
-
5
Choose an "IWB" or -- In-Waist-Band -- holster if you wear shorter sport coats or shirts. The IWB holster houses around the waist, typically on a belt. It is much like the strong-side holster, but is moveable throughout the loop of the waist and belt.
-
6
Pick out a shoulder harness if you wish the handgun to rest further up the body and hide under the arm. Go with an ankle holster for the least accessible choice. Ankle holsters are considered good choices for secondary firearms.
