    • Gerber produces a line of pocket tools much like the Leatherman with a variety of useful gear. The Gerber 07530 in the $50 to $60 range comes with all the standard tools such as a serrated knife, can opener, bottle opener, three flat blade screwdrivers and needle nose pliers. The tools lock as a safety feature and a nylon cover is included to keep dirt away. This item is made of stainless steel, weighing just over eight ounces and is five inches long.

    Generic Affordable Choices

    • If you find that the multitude of tools is more then you need, there are several multi-tool designs that are a bit more basic and much lower in price. From Tool Basic, for under $10, you can pick up the TGE-MP01 which has fourteen tools in one piece. It opens with needle nose pliers, has basic screwdrivers, pliers, blades and a serrated knife. Mintcraft makes a multi-tool that comes in its own little pouch for around $10. This knife features standard tools such as a wire cutter, can opener, two screwdrivers, cutting blades and needle nose pliers and weighs 12.2 ounces.
