1
Shift into the lowest of the 10 gears by sliding the gear lever on the bike's steering column all the way to the left.
-
2
Disconnect the brakes from the rear tire by simply disengaging the brake wires from their sockets.
-
3
Turn the quick-release lever counterclockwise to release the tire. Depending on the model of the bike, you may need to use a wrench to release the axle bolt. For specific instructions about how to remove the tire, see your bike's instruction manual.
-
4
Slide the tire lever between the rim and the tire and gently run the lever around the edge of the tire until it is completely removed from the rim.
-
5
Gently pull the inner tube off the rim.
-
6
Put the new inner tube on the rim of the bike. Use your hands to ensure the edge of the tube is inserted into the crease on the rim. Place the tube over the valve stem, as you will need it to inflate the tire.
-
7
Put the new tire on top of the inner tube using the same method with your hands. Ensure that the entirety of the inner tube is covered.
-
8
Use the air pump to inflate the new tire via the valve stem.
-
9
Use the tire gauge to ensure the air pressure inside the tire is within the normal parameters described in the new inner tube's manual.
-
10
Reinstall the tire by placing it back on the axle and reconnecting the axle bolt or quick-release lever.
-
11
Reconnect the brake wires.
