Schwinn Avenue Specs

The Schwinn Avenue Hybrid is a Schwinn bicycle made specifically for sale at Walmart. Thus, you will not find this bike in any other stores or online. The Schwinn Avenue, while a hybrid, is also considered a comfort bike due to its front and seat shock absorbers, extra padded seat and upright biking position.

  1. Frame

    • The Schwinn Avenue bike features a 26-inch aluminum hybrid frame with a front suspension fork. Aluminum gives the bike strength comparable to steel but keeps the weight of the frame significantly lower. This is ideal for use as a commuter bike, where the user often must transport the bike manually on buses and in offices.

    Wheel

    • The Avenue also comes standard with 24-spoke alloy wheels, using a paired spoke pattern. These wheels are standard alloy wheels and warrant the fear of popping or losing air quickly. Thus, they would need to be upgraded soon if considering using this bike for long-term purposes.

    Brakes

    • The braking system featured on the Avenue is an alloy linear-pull brakes. Linear-pull brakes entail two brake pads on the sides of the metal frame on both front and back wheels. When applying pressure to the brake handles the arms are drawn together and touch the metal part of the wheels. This causes friction to slow the rotation of the wheels.

    Gear

    • The Schwinn Avenue comes standard with Shimano EZ Fire 21-speed level shifters, which allow for quick shifts. This gear equipment is not top of the line but does the job well.

    Comfort

    • The Schwinn Avenue comes with several features that lend themselves to creating a high comfort level when riding this bike. These features include front and seat suspension to absorb impact, and extra padded seats for long bike rides. In addition, the Avenue helps support a mostly upright seating position, which is far more comfortable for the average person than the bent over seating position. This makes the Schwinn Avenue an excellent choice for casual and comfort-oriented riders.

    Gender

    • As of now, the Schwinn Avenue is available only as a men's model. However, it can be considered gender neutral. The Avenue comes with an angled top crossbar, which is similar, but not identical, to the top crossbar on many women's models.
