Specifications
-
The Sting-Ray introduced in 2004 had a weight of approximately 45 lbs. The rear wheel was 20 inches high and 4.25 inches wide. Schwinn later started producing a 16-inch version of the new generation Sting-Ray.
Accessories
-
The 2004 Sting-Ray was sold on the promise that owners could customize their bikes using accessories produced specifically for the bike by Schwinn. These accessories included cranksets, generator lights, pedals, forks, valve caps, saddles, hubs and grips, as well as V-shaped and "ape hanger" handlebars.
Electric Model
-
Following the re-introduction of the Sting-Ray brand in 2004, Schwinn also developed a motorized version with an electric motor and battery pack that could reach speeds as high as 14 miles per hour. This electric Sting-Ray could be powered by the motor or pedals alone, or by a combination. The 240-volt nickel cadmium battery could provide power for up to two hours and be removed from the bike for recharging. The motor was located in the bike's rear hub.
