How to Clean Quad Skate Wheels

Quad skate wheels naturally become dirty with use even if you only use them on a relatively clean roller rink floor. In order to clean your wheels, you do need to remove them from the skates completely. Fortunately, this is a simple process which only requires the removal of one axle nut per wheel. Keep your quad skates looking their best with regular cleaning and avoid grease or dirt buildup which could interfere with the performance of your quad skate wheels.

Instructions

    • 1

Remove the axle nut from the center of each wheel with a socket wrench. A 1/2-inch socket is the appropriate size for most quad skate wheels.

    • 2

Slide the wheels off the skates. Once the nut is removed, each wheel will slip off easily.

    • 3

Mix a few drops of liquid dish soap into a cup of water to create suds.

    • 4

Dampen a rag in the soapy water.

    • 5

Wipe the quad skate wheels with the wet rag. Clean the skates until all of the visible dirt and grease are removed from the outside of the wheel and around the bearing at the inside of the wheel.

    • 6

Dry the quad skate wheels thoroughly with a clean towel.

    • 7

Slide each quad skate wheel back onto your skates.

    • 8

Reattach and tighten the nuts to secure the quad skate wheels to your skates.
