1
Make a list of names that are important to you. Keep in mind that it is tradition for boats to be named after females. Your child's name, spouse's name, most loved grandmother's name, and even your the name of your favorite celebrity should all be on the list.
-
2
Search the website 10,000 Boat Names (see Resources) and add any names you like to your list of possibilities. To search 10,000 Boat Names just click on any letter from A to Z to see names that begin with that letter. Here you will find names like Hakuna Matata, Dawn Treader and Zenith II.
-
3
Add your personal characteristics to the list. These characteristics may be combined with other words on your list to form a unique boat name. For example, you may choose to name your boat the Noble Nora or the Ferocious Feline.
-
4
Add sports and activities that you take pleasure in. These will also help you come up with a boat name. If you enjoy golfing, you may name your boat the Putting Queen. Maybe you are big in to surfing. If so you may want to name your boat Surf's Up.
-
5
Start eliminating names from your list. Cross off any names you don't really like, and then go through the list again. This time cross off any names that don't sound right when you pronounce them out loud. Continue eliminating names until you only have one left.
If you can't decide between two or three names, have your family take a vote to choose the name they like the best.
