How to Bet a Pick 6

A Pick 6 is just one of several exotic bet options available to horse racing fans. It requires the bettor to pick the winners of six consecutive races. It's not uncommon for the payout of a Pick 6 to be in the six figures and on rare occasions the payout is sometimes seven figures.

Instructions

      Buy a track program or racing form at the track or simulcast facility. If wagering at home, open a online wagering account and purchase an electronic racing form.

      Decide on a budget. You'll have to bet a minimum of $2 and you'll need to have cash available at the track in order to bet. Your bet will have to be placed prior to the start of the first race of the Pick 6.

      Identify which race the Pick 6 bet starts on. It's usually, but not always, the last 6 races of the day.

      Pick a winner for each of the six races. You'll later need the number of the horse from the track program to place your bet. Your Pick 6 bet can include multiple horses for each race. If you really like two horses in the first race, you can include both horses in your bet.

      Walk up to a ticket counter to place your bet.

      Say the name of the track followed by the amount you're betting followed by the words "Pick 6." Next say all the numbers of the horses you've selected saying the word "with" in between the horse(s) you picked for each race.

      Enjoy the race and cash your ticket if you're a winner.
