How to Hook Up a Hayward Aquabug

The Aquabug, made by pool filter manufacturer Hayward Pool Products, is designed to supplement Hayward aboveground swimming pool filters. The hemispherical orange, black and blue device resembles a ladybug and uses the suction from the pool filter to suck water from the pool floor. Water flow moves the Aquabug around the pool, and, according to Hayward, the device cleans pools without overuse of chemical sanitizers. The Aquabug comes with an instructional video.

Instructions

      Push the antenna through the back of the head. Align the antenna base with the key inside the head and pull.

      Insert the tab on the bottom of the head into the corresponding hole on the cleaner body. Swing the top of the head forward and snap into place.

      Connect the cleaner hose section by section by pushing the tapered male end of each section into the funneled female end of another hose section and twisting. Attach the gray header hose section to one end of the other assembled hose sections.

      Ensure the bumper ring on the bottom of the cleaner turns freely. Hold the cleaner body under water until all the trapped air escapes.

      Attach the gray cuff of the header hose and submerge all connected hoses. Turn off your filter system and attach the header hose to the skimmer's suction port. Some suction ports may require the use of the cone adapter included with the Aquabug.

      Turn on the filter and ensure the Aquabug moves around the bottom of your swimming pool.
