How to Drain & Store My Intex Pool
Things You'll Need
- Garden hose
- Intex hose adapter
- Talcum powder
Instructions
-
Draining Pool Water
-
1
Twist the cap off of the drain valve, located on the outer wall of your Intex pool.
-
2
Attach the female end of a garden hose to the hose adapter sold with your Intex pool. The female end of the hose is the end with threads on the outside, or the end water is typically sprayed from.
-
3
Position the hose so the water is draining away from your house.
-
4
Twist the hose adapter into the drain valve. As you do this, the adapter will push the plug open, causing the water to start flowing through the hose.
-
5
Allow the pool to drain until all water is removed. If needed, lift up the edges of the pool to guide water toward the drain.
Storage Preparation
-
6
Deflate the top ring by removing the plug from the air hole.
-
7
Loosen the screws on the hose clamps with your fingers. Slide the clamp down the hose once it's been loosened. Pull all hoses from the input and output holes on the pool.
-
8
Sprinkle the pool with a thin layer of talcum powder to absorb any water you may have missed and prevent the sides from sticking to the bottom of the pool.
-
9
Allow the pool to completely air dry.
Folding
-
10
Lay the pool completely flat.
-
11
Fold the circular sides inward to create a square shape.
-
12
Fold the square in half by folding either side on top of the opposite side so you have a rectangle.
-
13
Fold both ends of the rectangle inward, so they meet in the middle. Your pool should still be rectangular in shape, just smaller than in Step 3.
-
14
Fold the rectangle in half, by folding either side over the opposite side.
Storage
-
15
Place the pool back in the box (if you still have it), along with the hoses and filter. If you don't have the box any mor, place the pool and parts in a box or plastic storage tote.
-
16
Close the box or place the lid over the top of the storage container.
-
17
Store the box or container in a dry, temperature-controlled environment, where the temperature is between 41 and 100 degrees Fahrenheit.
