How to Look Like a Skater Chick
Instructions

1
Get some baggy cargo pants or shorts from Roxy, the edgy surf and skate clothing line for girls. In general, the more pockets the better. Camouflage patterned pants and shorts are a solid way to go to get the skater chick look, but sagging Dickies will also do the trick. In all cases, wear a belt that's either big and studded, for a more hardcore style, or slim and girlish to mellow the outfit out.
-
2
Put on a tank top or undersized T-shirt that shows some midriff. Regular colored shirts are fine but prints from skate companies like Etnies, Volcom, Elements or DC are better. If the weather's cooler, go for a Carhart zip-up hoodie that keeps the skater chick style but allows you to show off the midriff.
-
3
Wear skate shoes from brands like Vans, Etnies or Heelys, just like the guys, and make sure that you've got fat laces that you don't have to tie (lace them up so the ends feed into the shoes). If you're wearing shorts put on some striped tube socks and pull those up to your shins to get more of a West Coast skater girl look going on.
-
4
Get the all important fitted skate hat or, alternatively, a mesh truckers hat such as ones from Von Dutch. If you wear the hat brim-forward then keep it low on your eyebrows. If you feel like wearing the hat backward then wear it however feels right.
-
5
Accessorize with a rubber or leather bracelet, like ones from Flip or Maple skate brands, or a chain necklace and some dark Hard Candy nail polish. Put a streak of bright color in your hair and wear some dark eyeliner as well.
-
6
Find a skateboard and start to skate so you can at least get the basics down since, in the end, knowing how to handle yourself on a skateboard will give you the skater chick look you're going for.
