How to Sled Without Snow

Some people, especially kids, enjoy sledding so much they want to do it year-round. People enjoy the rush of going downhill at high speeds and want to do it more than a couple months out of the year in the winter. You can sled without snow if you plan it correctly.

Instructions

    • 1

Find a hill without obstructions such as trees or rocks. The hill should be steep and smooth without any drop-offs at the end. Stay away from hills near streets or thorn bushes.

    • 2

Create a runway on the hillside. Smooth grass and muddy hillsides make great runways to sled down without snow. Spray water on the hillside to make it extra slippery to gain speed quickly.

    • 3

Cover the runway in plastic tarps if the grass is dry. This will work like a slip-n-slide. Add water to the tarp and you can sled down it as fast without snow as you would with snow.

    • 4

Purchase a sled if you don't already own one. The sled must be the kind without runners, as runners will jam into the hillside without snow to glide on. A toboggan works great for sledding without snow.

    • 5

Hold the sled and run towards the hillside. At the last minute, jump onto the sled and race downhill.
