Instructions

-
1
Get into your surfing gear whether it is a dry suit for colder waters, or a wet suit for the ocean. Make sure they are comfortable and that they provide flexibility.
-
2
Buy a paddle that you will be able to surf on. Make sure the paddle provides enough space for you to stand with your feet apart comfortably.
-
3
Practice by placing the board on the sand or ground. Try balancing on it for awhile before you hit the water. After you get used to the board under your feet, you are ready to hit the water. Place your paddle on the board.
-
4
Place your board in shallow water. Float and sit on your board for awhile to get used to being on the water. Push out onto the water.
-
5
Climb up on the board by pulling your chest up first and then moving one foot onto the board. Next move your other foot to be shoulder length apart from your first foot.
-
6
Start paddling once you are standing on your board. Remain focused on good posture and balance. Move slowly to start and then go at your own pace once you are comfortable.
