How to Water Ski
Just about anyone can learn to water ski, with a little patience and practice. Here's how to get started.

Put on a life vest and water skis and get into the water. (Start with a smaller lake on a calm, quiet day if you can, so the waves won't be too choppy.)

Hold your feet out so the skip tips point up and slightly out of the water.

Crouch down as if you were sitting in a chair. Keep your skis straight and about a foot apart.

Lean back just a little as the boat starts off. Keep your knees bent and your back straight. The boat will pull you up into position.

Keep your knees bent to absorb the bumps. Stay inside the boat's wake until you feel steady and balanced. Later, as you get more confident, you might want to try to "jump" or cross the wake.
