How to Easily Carry Nalgene Bottles

Nalgene bottles are odor free, durable and reusable water containers. These three features make them just as popular for home life as they are in the outdoors. Unfortunately, unless you own a backpack with pockets designed to hold them, they're a little too big to easily carry around. A few tricks and products make carrying Nalgene water bottles easier.

      Clip a carabiner through the loop top of the bottle's lid and then clip the carabiner to your backpack. This works well on new lids, but the weight of a full bottle swinging from your backpack will eventually wear the loop top out.

      Use a rope loop affixed to the bottle using duct tape. Cut a 12-inch piece of 5mm climbing cordage and tie overhand knots at each end. Fold the two ends together and tape the cordage to your Nalgene bottle using multiple layers of duct tape. Clip this to your backpack using a carabiner. This is a popular option for many backpacking and climbing guides.

      Buy a Nalgene water bottle carrier. Nalgene offers a line of shoulder bags, waist bags and carriers with belt loops. These are a great option if you don't plan on carrying a backpack with you.
