Handicap Requirements for MLB Stadiums

Disabled fans have the right to watch Major League Baseball games like everyone else. For that reason, all MLB stadiums provide accessibility to handicapped fans to meet their needs and provide them the opportunity to watch baseball games nationwide. It's important to familiarize yourself with each stadium's individual handicap accessibility before attending a game, but every stadium provides at least some form of access.
  1. Drop-Off Area

    • Most major-league stadiums have areas designated for disabled fan drop-off. These areas are marked differently at every stadium but provide close access so handicapped fans do not have to travel as far to get to a baseball game.

    Accessible Parking

    • Many MLB stadiums offer nearby parking for handicapped attendees. These come in the form of parking garages, lots and valet service, depending on the stadium. This provides easy access to and from games.

    Elevators and Escalators

    • From Fenway Park, the oldest stadium in baseball, to Chase Field, one of the newest stadiums in baseball, elevators and escalators are non-negotiable. Located strategically around every park, elevators are available close to certain entrances and provide access to every level. Before attending a game, be sure to find out which entrances offer elevator access.

    Ticket Windows

    • Most MLB stadiums offer ticket windows low enough for people in wheelchairs buying or picking up tickets. Those stadiums that do not have low ticket windows have people available to help handicapped individuals in picking up tickets.

    Handicap Accessories Storage

    • Attendees who are capable of walking but use a wheelchair or walker are able to check their accessories with guest services at most MLB stadiums. Their items will be available for pickup immediately after the game.

    Wheelchair Seating

    • For those in wheelchairs, MLB stadiums offer platforms for people in wheelchairs and their families so they can watch the game from an exceptional vantage point. These sections are located at the top of each section to avoid the hassle of getting down stairs.

    Service Animals Welcome

    • Seeing-eye dogs are welcome at all MLB stadiums for the visually impaired individuals. Additionally, Braille and tactile signs are located throughout every stadium. Many of these stadiums also have AM/FM radios on hand so they can listen to the game.

    Wheelchair Escorts

    • If you call the MLB stadium you'll be visiting in advance, guest services at every park will provide a wheelchair escort if required. Arrive early and you will be escorted to a wheelchair-only section.

    First Aid

    • Qualified first-aid experts are located in every stadium in case of an emergency. Ushers and staff are able to contact first aid immediately upon request.
