Sponsor Sign Ideas for a Golf Tournament

Golf tournaments are commonly used as fundraisers. A major source of the money raised comes from sponsors. Several potential revenue sources exist for sponsorships and the majority of these involve signage highlighting the business. Place sponsorship signs throughout the course, from the registration table to the awards banquet and everything in between.
  1. Banners

    • The best way to highlight your main tournament sponsor is with a large welcome banner at the registration table. Generally 3 feet by 6 feet, these banners should feature the presenting sponsor's name and logo in addition to the name and logo of the charity. Place it above the table so people will see it as they enter and as they wait at the table to check in. A "thank you" banner should be hung in the banquet room if an awards ceremony is being held after the tournament. This banner should feature all of the tournament's sponsors, with the presenting sponsor's logo predominant. Unless the room is too small, the "thank you" banner also should be 3 feet by 6 feet.

    Signs

    • For hole sponsors, be creative in your signage. Rather than a generic rectangle on a spike, design signs that look like a golf ball on a tee or a golf cart. Signs on the course must be tasteful, but a little originality could bring in more money. If your signs are imaginative and customized for the sponsors, you might be able to sell them and cover the cost of their production. For contest sponsors, like closest-to-the-pin and longest drive, or a putting area sponsor, use free-standing A-frame signs that feature the business's logo on both sides. These signs should be 1 foot by 2 feet on each side, connected by hinges that fold for easy moving. Place an A-frame just before the tee box to indicate the contest at that hole while remaining unobtrusive.

    Flags

    • Increase the value of a hole sponsorship with pin flags. The sponsor gets exposure not only with a sign at the tee box, but also at the other end of the hole with the flag. Or sell the two separately, calling one a tee sponsor and the other a hole sponsor. The pin flag will be a sought-after souvenir for the sponsoring business and can lead to more revenue.

    Other Signage

    • Use magnetic or shade signs on the various golf carts traveling from hole to hole. Shade signs are custom-made and attach to the sides of the cart to block out sun while still allowing air to circulate. Sell a sponsor for the beverage carts and one for the cart selling mulligans. Contact the golf course about adding signs to their carts before selling the sponsorships. If a car is being given away at a specific hole for a hole-in-one, place magnetic signs on it showcasing the dealership that donated the vehicle. Sell cup sponsorships and place signs at the bottom of each hole with the business's logo. If you have a leader board or winner's board, include the presenting sponsor on it or sell this as a separate sponsorship.
