The Golden State Triathlon

The Golden State Triathlon is held in Sacramento. The Golden State Triathlon in Sacramento offers both a traditional triathlon, which consists of a half-mile swim, a 15-mile bike and a 3-mile run, and a sprint-style triathlon, which consists of a 200-yard swim, a 5-mile bike ride and a one-mile run. The race takes place in early October. The triathlons are done in waves, organized according to gender and age. The race begins with a swim in the American river. The 15-mile bike ride is on a closed-road course. Triathletes will finish the race with a run on the American River Parkway, and water and aid stations are located along the way.
San Diego International Triathlon

The San Diego triathlon is one of the country's longest-standing triathlons. Among the many triathlons offered in San Diego, the annual International Triathlon and begin in Spanish Landing Park. There is a sprint course and an international course in the San Diego Bay. The water is a bit chilly and a wet suit should be worn. The race occurs in June and registration may be purchased online or through the mail.
San Francisco Triathlon at Treasure Island

Triathletes at this race will see many of the cities famous landmarks. This triathlon (which also offers an Olympic-length and a sprint length) takes place in July and offers scenic views of San Francisco's landmarks---the Golden Gate Bridge, Alcatraz and the Bay Bridge. The swim is in the San Francisco Bay between Yerba Buena Island and the Marina. The bike course and run are held on closed roads and energy stations are located throughout the race.
Pasadena Triathlon

The Pasadena Triathlon is unusual because it is run backwards. The Pasadena Triathlon, located at the Rose Bowl Aquatics Center, is close to Los Angeles and occurs in mid-March. The triathlon is backwards, so it begins with the run and ends with a 150m swim. Parking is free at the Rose Bowl center. It is recommended to register early for this race because it is capped at 600 participants.
