Motorcycle Hillclimb Events in Minnesota

Minnesota has plenty to offer the everyday traveler. There are prehistoric cave carvings, more than 7,000 square miles of water, more than 11,000 lakes (including Lake Superior) and summer days as warm as 90 degrees. With its variety of terrain, from flat and peaceful to hilly and hard, what is also popular about Minnesota are the Motorcycle Hillclimb events, which feature motocross bikes with a 1,500-cubic-centimeter motor attached racing up 300-foot hills. The sport is popular throughout the United States, and Minnesota's District 23 has plenty of events to offer.
  1. Kato Cycle Club Event

    • Starting bright and early at 10 a.m., the Kato Cycle Club of Mankato presents its annual Hillclimb Event. The club is Minnesota's oldest American Motorcyclist Association Charted Club, gaining that charter in 1940. In 2010, the Hillclimb Event is one of eight different events the club will put on. Throughout the year, it will be offering four Motocross events, a night hill climb and hill drags in August. The hills are large in Mankato, and this event draws a huge crowd each year.

    Indianhead Motorcycle Club Event

    • Founded in 1948, The Indianhead Motorcycle Club of Red Wing was named after a rock formation that resembled an Indian chief. Known mostly for holding AMA Amateur Hillclimb events, the Indianhead Motorcycle cub does host the occasional professional event. In 2010 the club will be running a four-stroke ATV exhibition class, giving out the same awards and same climbs and presenting its case for adding a four-stroke ATV class to District 23 next year.
