What to Bring to a Talladega Race

With an capacity of 169,000 per event, Talladega Superspeedway is one of the most impressive racing venues in the United States. The venue, about 20 miles northwest Talladega, Ala., off Interstate 20 East, hosts two NASCAR Sprint Cup Series races annually. Knowing what you'll need to bring to the races will only maximize your enjoyment.

  1. Grandstand Attendance - Food/Beverage

    • Commercial concession stands are placed throughout the venue, but be prepared for serious pricing for simple things like water, soft drinks, hamburgers or hot dogs. A better way to eat at the racetrack is to bring a soft-sided cooler or insulated bag containing typical sandwich fare. There are limits on the number of cooler/bags (one per ticket-holder), as well as the size of these containers (maximum size is 6 inches by 6 inches by 12 inches). With beverages, you can bring soft drinks and beer into the racetrack. Bear in mind, though, that alcohol abuse will result in ejection from the grandstands.

    Grandstand Attendance - Clothing

    • Talladega hosts two NASCAR events, in April and October. In the case of the fall race, bring a range of clothing from light rain gear to heavy jackets, hats and gloves. The spring show is less complicated, however, as central Alabama warms up accordingly. As a result, bring light clothing and rain gear.

    RV/Camping Attendance - Food/Beverage

    • Accommodations for food and beverage at Talladega is based on an "whatever you can bring" approach. The venue property operates 22 RV/camping areas ranging from free access up to $330 per slot/per weekend in the infield area. Typically, RV/camping areas are where the party really gets started. Along with your cooling systems and food, bring your grill and typical cooking utensils.

    • TSS's RV/Camping areas will experience the same weather as the grandstands. If it rains, grandstand fans can find shelter under the grandstands. In the infield areas, though, you're on your own. In this case, have rain gear available, especially during the spring race.

    • Talladega Superspeedway makes every effort to make the races affordable. With this in mind, the track doesn't charge for day-of-race grandstand parking or North Park, South Park or the West Park C RV/camping space.
