How to Be Commissioner of a Yahoo! Fantasy Football League

Being the commissioner of your own Yahoo! fantasy football league takes more dedication than the typical owner has. You'll need to not only manage your own team, but keep the league itself running smoothly.

      Go to the Yahoo! Fantasy Football main page and create a new league. Choose a free league or a plus league and choose the default settings or adjust them to your liking.

      Decide if you want a private league or a public league. A private league is only open to those to whom you give the league ID and password. A public league is available to anyone who wants to join.

      Use the Commissioner Tools to manage your league. You can change various aspects such as rosters, message posting abilities and other settings as you see fit. You can also post and edit a commissioner's note that shows up on the main page.

      Keep an eye on the chatter in the league. There is a message board, as well as a smack talk feature. You have complete discretion over what can and cannot be said in your league. If an owner is causing trouble, you can use your authority to keep things under control and lock him from posting messages or smack talk.

      Monitor the trades and transactions in your league. If a trade is made that appears to be lopsided or unfair, you can veto it. Also listen to concerns of the owners in your league when they have a problem with a trade.

      Lock transactions for the eliminated teams once the playoffs begin if you deem it necessary. Since the eliminated teams have no reason to edit their rosters, you can prevent possible cheating or unfair play by locking their transactions.
