How to Be an Indiana Hoosier Basketball Fan

Indiana University basketball is a tradition unmatched by few others in college athletics. IU has won the third most national championships, and Hoosier fans are proud of the banners that hang in their stadium. Indiana has long been known as a hotbed for college basketball, and the games at Assembly Hall are incredible.

      Every basketball game sells out in Bloomington, Indiana. Students are given half of the tickets, and alumni the other half. There are always plenty of tickets to be scalped outside of the stadium. If you can't find a ticket, there are plenty of bars to catch the game at in Bloomington.

      Get some crimson and creme gear. One fan favorite item is the striped warm-up pants that the team wears. The authentic ones run upwards of $100, but they sell cheap knockoffs. If slightly resembling a clown isn't your thing, get a t-shirt or jersey. Don't dress too warm, it gets pretty hot inside Assembly Hall

      There is no more hostile environment in college basketball than being on the road. The hometown Hoosier fans are relentless. Being at a game and heckling the other team is as big of a part of being a IU Basketball fan as any.

      Perhaps the most part of being an IU Basketball fan is having a hatred for all things Purdue. If you are truly a Hoosier, you will think that people at Purdue are the scum of the Earth. You are likely to also support Bobby Knight, no matter how crazy he gets.
