Go to any sporting event across the country and you are likely to see fans with giant foam fingers on their hands stating "We're No. 1!" You can buy a foam finger from a vendor, but if you make your own at home, you will save some cash and be able to write your own message. Making a foam finger requires a little creativity, but take your time and have fun with it.

Instructions

    • 1

Hold your hand as if pointing with the index finger and trace the shape on a sheet of foam, exaggerating the size and shape of the index finger. Cut the shape out with scissors, allowing an extra 1/2-in. margin on all edges.

    • 2

Place the cutout hand on the second sheet of foam, trace it and cut out the second hand with scissors. Apply fabric glue to the perimeter of one of the pieces of foam, leaving an opening at the bottom for your hand to slide into. Align the second piece of foam with the first and press the edges together to secure the two halves. Use paper clips to hold the edges together while the glue dries. Allow the glue to dry completely.

    • 3

Paint the foam finger using the acrylic paint and a brush. Be as creative as you like with the colors. Allow the paint to dry.

    • 4

Apply the black paint to outline the edges of the glove, then write your preferred message on the face of the glove. Allow the paint to dry thoroughly.
