How to Sell Tickets That I Do Not Need
Instructions
-
StubHub
-
1
Go to stubhub.com. Type the tickets' event name into the search box if you decide to sell. Find the specific date and location of the event from the displayed search results, and click the "sell" button to the right of the event name.
-
2
Select whether you already have the tickets or you are going to purchase them for the buyer at a later date (you must specify the date). Select whether you want to FedEx your tickets to the buyer, if you will deliver the tickets electronically via a PDF file or if you want to make your tickets available for instant download.
-
3
Select the seat type (specific seats or general admission) of your tickets under the "Type of seats" heading. Enter the number of tickets you want to sell in the "Quantity" box. List the section and row in their respective boxes. Select any additional seat features, such as aisle or parking pass, by clicking the boxes next to each descriptor.
-
4
Select ticket conditions and comments under the headings "Required disclosures" and "Add comments." Comments are optional. Click "Continue."
-
5
Price your tickets by selecting "Fixed price" or "Declining price" on the next page and then entering the ticket cost in the "Pprice" box. Declining prices will get lower as the sale date, which you specify in the "sale date" box, approaches. Click "Continue."
-
6
Enter your payment information. You can choose to be paid via PayPal, check or have your payment be donated to charity. Enter your credit card information. This is needed to fulfill StubHub's FanProtect guarantee. Click "Continue," review your entered information for accuracy, and then click "Submit." An email will be sent to you when your tickets have been purchased.
TicketMaster
-
7
Visit www.ticketmaster.com/ticketexchange. This site is specific to tickets to sporting events. Click on the team for which you have tickets, look for the specific date and place of the event, and then click "sell tickets" on the right hand side.
-
8
Indicate whether you are a season ticket holder or not. A new page will open. Enter the number of tickets you wish to sell in the "Number of tickets" box. Enter the bar code for each ticket in the boxes that appear below "Number of tickets."
-
9
Select a note for your tickets. This is an optional step unless your seats have an obstructed view--TicketMaster requires you to indicate this fact in your selling note. Click "Continue."
-
10
Enter your contact information and how you would like to be paid for the tickets, then click "Sell tickets." An email will be sent to you when your tickets have been purchased.
Craigslist
-
11
Go to www.craigslist.org/about/sites. Select the state and city where the event is taking place. Click "Post to classifieds on the left hand side of the screen. Select "For sale" and then click "Tickets."
-
12
Type the name of the event and the event date under the "Posting title" heading. Type the exact location of the event in the "Exact location" box. List your email address in the "Reply to:" box and select "Anonymize" if you do not want your real email address displayed.
-
13
List the price for which you are selling the tickets in the "Price" box. Craigslist does not want its users selling tickets for more than face value, but you can increase the price if you are including bonuses such as parking passes or merchandise coupons.
-
14
Type key information about the tickets in the "Posting description" section. List the section, row and seat number of your tickets. List the start time of the show and the stadium/theatre name. Be sure to list any extras that you are willing to include with the tickets, such as premium parking passes for the event.
-
15
Click "Continue." Review your posting information for accuracy, then click "Continue" again. Read the Craigslist terms of use and then click "Accept terms of use." Your tickets will be posted among the classified section and buyers will contact you directly through email.
eBay
-
16
Go to eBay.com. Click "Sell" in the upper right hand corner of the screen. Select "Sell an item" from the drop down menu. Click "Start selling" at the top of the page that opens.
-
17
Type three keywords in the "Find a matching category" box on the next page. One of the keywords should be "Tickets." Click "Search." Select "Event tickets" under the "Tickets" heading on the next page.
-
18
Type the event and venue information in the "Search for a product" box on the next page, and then click "Search." Select the event for which you have tickets from the search results. Select whether you want a simple listing or more listing choices, then click "Go."
-
19
Fill out the form. Type a title for your listing that includes the event name, date and number of tickets. Choose "Number of tickets" from the drop down menu in the "Describe the item you're selling" section. Type the section and row information in their respective boxes. Choose a price where bidding can begin, and enter the tickets' shipping information.
-
20
Click "Save and preview." Review your listing for accuracy, and then click "List your item." eBay will send you an email when your tickets have been sold.
