Ticket sellers can use Stub Hub, a Web site found at www.stubhub.com that has become one of the most popular places to buy and sell tickets for games. You can search by team, venue, date or league. This is why sellers use Stub Hub to sell tickets to almost every regular-season game of every sports league.
Stub Hub sets the prices for the tickets. Prices are based on demand, the amount of tickets available and the location of the seat.
Stub Hub tickets for sale can be viewed by price or seat location, so regardless of what tickets a seller is offering, they will be at least seen, if not bought, on Stub Hub.
Stub Hub can also be used to sell concert and theater tickets.
Stub Hub, however, does charge a fee to sell tickets on the site.

Visit Craigslist, found at www.craigslist.org, a web site that is used to buy and sell nearly everything. Tickets are no different.
Craigslist searches are done by keyword, so if a seller wants to have their tickets seen and sold, they must make sure to include both team names and the date of the game in the title.
Selling on Craigslist can be a risk because a seller is essentially moderating his or her own auction (unlike eBay, where it's done automaticaly), but the seller has the choice of whether to sell for a flat fee or for the best offer.
A seller must also be wary that online payment is discouraged on Craigslist, because the sale is not moderated by the Web site administrators.
Sellers must be able to gauge the demand of the tickets before selling on Craigslist. For a regular season game with no real prominence, it is likely the seller will not be able to receive more than face value.
However with high-demand games or playoff games, sellers can expect to turn more of a profit. For example, for the WashingtonRedskins 2008 home game against the Dallas Cowboys -- a nationally televised prime time game with playoff implications, certain tickets were listed at nearly double face value.
However, for a recent Pittsburgh Pirates game against the Chicago Cubs, a seller had two second-row tickets on sale for just $26.

Sellers can also use the online auction site eBay, found at www.ebay.com, where available tickets can be listed for sale.
Like Craigslist, eBay searches are done by keyword. If a seller wants to have their tickets seen and sold, they must make sure the auction's title includes both team names and the date of the game.
Auctions on eBay last seven to 10 days and the site will take a fee. In return, eBay moderates the auction for the seller.
There is also a "Buy it Now" option on eBay that can be used to sell tickets for a flat rate.

Most professional sports teams today have a ticket exchange that can be done online through the team's Web site or over the phone. This is a way to monitor ticket sales beyond the initial sale.
Some of the teams link to Stub Hub to do this, and others charge a fee to sell tickets. However, this provides a safe and convenient way to make a sale.
