1
Design the tickets to include all relevant information about the event, such as the time, date and location. Be sure that the details regarding the autograph signing are also prominently displayed. This way, you increase your chances of attracting guests to the autograph-signing portion of your event regardless of whether they're interested in the specific event.

2
Sell your tickets in locations that are often frequented by sports fans. For example, if you're running a golf tournament that features an autograph-signing appearance by one or more sports figures, have the tickets available at golf stores, sporting goods stores and the event venue. If there's a sports bar in your area that's acting as a sponsor of the event, that's another ideal location to sell tickets.

3
Build a website publicizing your event, and make sure it includes the necessary details about the autograph signing. For a sports fan or autograph seeker, there's nothing worse than attending an event and finding out it's not what was described in the promotional materials. Be sure to include information about any admission fees or charges for autographs, the length of time the athlete will be signing, if photographs with the athlete are permitted and if there are any items the athlete won't sign.

4
Use social networking websites such as Twitter and Facebook to help publicize your event. If the athlete who's attending your event uses Twitter, ask him to "retweet" one of your messages or post his own. Because athletes generally have large numbers of Twitter followers, this is an effective way to generate free publicity for the event.

5
Keep the ticket price as reasonable as possible by adding a charity element to the event. It's very likely that you'll have to pay the athlete for his appearance. But, if you involve a charity to which you'll make a donation following the event, the athlete may lower his appearance fee. Likewise, the better the price you charge for admission to your event, the better your chances are for a higher turnout.
