Mounting Instructions

1
Align your Grayling Fletching Jig so that the edge of its mounting bracket is flush with the edge of the work table or other surface that you want to mount it to. Mark the position of the ends of the mounting cutouts. Remove the jig from the mounting surface.
-
2
Drill a pilot hole at each marked point. Line up the ends of the mounting holes of your jig with the pilot holes.
-
3
Firmly insert and drive in a size10 wood screw to fasten each of the mounting holes to your work surface.
Instructions for Use
-
4
Thoroughly clean your arrow shaft according to the directions for your fletching glue. Dry thoroughly with a clean cloth to remove any water or solvent residue.
-
5
Insert a fixed or adjustable nock into the nock receiver at the base of the jig, according to the position in which you want to affix it to the arrow shaft. Skip to Step 4 if you are using an adjustable nock or a 4X90 fletching.
-
6
Loosen the nock adjustment knob at the bottom right of the jig and rotate the jig dial at the bottom center of the jig until you see either three short lines or three longer lines on the scale at the base of the jig frame. Turn the jig dial to the left or the right until the center line on the jig dial is aligned with the locating line on the jig base. Rotate the dial to the next set of lines if you cannot get the first set to align properly. Tighten the nock adjustment knob as soon as you have successfully aligned a dial line to a base locating line.
-
7
Insert the shaft of the arrow in the shaft holder hole at the top of the jig. Make sure the nock adjustment knob is firmly locked before proceeding.
-
8
Insert a feather or vane into the clamp at the side of the jig. Use the measurement markings on the clamp as a reference to position your vane and all subsequent vanes for your arrow; note the position of the first vane so that you know where to place the next ones.
-
9
Loosen the magnet adjustment knob that is positioned at an angle on the base of the jig. Remove the clamp from the jig and place it on the magnet inside the jig. Make sure that your feather is firmly held in the clamp and is in a perfectly straight position.
-
10
Tighten and lock the magnet adjustment knob back into place. Remove the clamp from the magnet to set the jig.
-
11
Place the clamp back on the magnet and place it onto the shaft to make sure your jig is set in the correct place. Repeat any of the placement steps if your jig is not set so that the vane will be held in the correct position.
-
12
Apply a thin line of your fletching glue along the entire base of your feather or vane. Place the clamp back on the magnet and press the clamp and magnet into position so that they hold the vane flush against the shaft.
-
13
Allow the fletching glue to dry for the recommended time. Release your feather or vane from the clamp and remove the clamp from the magnet.
-
14
Turn the jig dial at the bottom of the jig to the next click. Repeat Steps 5 through 10 for each additional vane or feather, remembering to use the same measuring marks as you used for your first vane or feather.
-
15
Remove the arrow from the jig after you have attached all of the three or four vanes or feathers that your nock calls for by pulling the arrow shaft holder back. Then pull the arrow freely to the left and out of the jig.
