How to Determine Your Bow Draw Length

A draw length is the optimum position for your body when the bow string is pulled back for a shot. This angle and length is made using a quick formula and a simple body measurement. Benefits to knowing your draw length include being able to match the measurement to a proper-sized bow. In addition, draw length can help determine what poundage to set the draw at.

Measure the distance in inches between your two hands. If necessary, have a friend measure the distance with a tape measure.

Take the Step 2 measurement and divide it by 2.5. For example, if your reach measurement is 60 inches, divide it by 2.5 for a result of 24. The result of the calculation is your draw length for the bow.
