How to Restring a PSE Youth Bow

An important aspect of being an archer is knowing how to replace the string on a PSE or any youth bow. Bow strings wear and stretch during shooting and even occasionally break. The bow string and cables should be checked for excessive wear before and after every shooting session. If the string is worn, it should be replaced. PSE also recommends changing the string every 5,000 shots or 12 months.

Instructions

    • 1

Mark the cam posts that hold the string as well as a line along the string on the cam and wheel.

    • 2

Measure the distance between the riser and string along with the distances from the top axle to the peep sight and from the peep sight to the nocking point. Write down the measurements so they're handy later.

    • 3

Compress the limbs in a bow press until the bow string is loose and remove the string.

    • 4

Install the new string on the posts you marked before removing the old string.

    • 5

Remove the bow from the press and check the alignment marks on the cam and wheel against the string.

    • 6

Check the distance from the riser to the string. A slight difference is fine because the string will stretch after shooting a few shots.

    • 7

Reinstall the peep sight and nocking point using the measurements from the old string.
