How to Aim With Bow Pin Sights
Making the switch from shooting a bow instinctively to aiming with pin sights takes a while to get used to. The sights allow you to aim and shoot at a target without estimating how high or low to aim as with instinctive methods of shooting. But, the challenge lies in remembering at what distance each pin is set. Sights have anywhere from one to six pins set at 5- or 10-yard intervals.

1
Find a target with a safe backstop. A paper bull's-eye in front of a few straw bales works fine for practice.
-
2
Step off 20 yards from the target and get ready to shoot.
-
3
Nock an arrow and draw your bow.
-
4
Look through the peep sight. It should already be set so it lines up with your eye at full draw.
-
5
Center the top pin in the peep sight and on the target.
-
6
Let the arrow fly. If the sight is set properly, all you need is practice to get the hang of using the sight.
