How to Endload a Bat
If a softball or baseball player is looking to add a little bit of power to his swing and distance to his hits, a popular technique is end loading a bat. According to a study performed at Kettering University, end loading means increasing the weight in the barrel of the bat. An end-loaded bat usually produces a 3-mph increase in speed of a batted ball at the moment of impact.
Things You'll Need
- Screwdriver
- Epoxy glue
- Aluminum bat
- Tennis balls
- Rubber mallet
Instructions

1
Remove the plastic cap from the end of the aluminum bat you want to end load. If the cap is attached too tightly, use a screwdriver to pry it off.
-
2
Find tennis balls to place inside the barrel of the bat. Tennis balls are an ideal size and weight for end loading, and they should stay in the barrel of the bat with a snug fit.
-
3
Replace the plastic cap on the top of the bat. If the cap fits too loosely, try using an epoxy glue to hold it in place.
-
4
Tap the cap with a rubber mallet to secure the fit and allow the glue on the cap to dry.
