Baseball Camps for Kids in Spokane, Washington

Spokane's warm and dry summers make it an ideal destination for youth baseball camps. The city's parks and recreation department and universities offer a range of overnight and day camp options for baseball players. Spokane is in Eastern Washington, about 20 miles west of the Idaho border.
  1. Skyhawks Sports Camps

    • Skyhawks joins with Spokane Parks and Recreation and nonprofit organizations to offer sports camps for kids during summer. Baseball camps for younger children ages 4 to 6 can run for six weeks, with once-weekly sessions, while camps for players ages 7 to 12 operate five days a week for three hours each morning. Skyhawks Baseball Camps focus on fundamentals and strive to promote enthusiasm for the spirit of the game. Four levels of camps are available through Skyhawks for children as young as 3 and up to age 14. Specific camp sites vary each year. In 2011, locations include Glover Middle School, Hamblen Elementary School and Shadle Park High School.

    Whitworth University Nike Baseball Camp

    • Baseball players between the ages of 10 and 18 seeking advanced training can attend the Nike Baseball Camp at Whitworth University in Spokane. Taught by the university's head baseball coach, the camp combines group fundamental instruction and drills with individual work focused on each player's needs. Camp options include half-day, extended day or overnight for older players. With a motto of "live, breathe, eat and sleep baseball," Whitworth's camp lasts for five days and concludes with a graduation ceremony on Friday afternoon. Whitworth University is in north Spokane's Fairwood neighborhood and is 15 miles from the airport.

    Gonzaga University Zags Baseball Camp

    • Gonzaga University hosts aspiring baseball players for camps each summer. The Zags Baseball Camps are led by the university's coaching staff and includes clinics, camps and baseball showcases. Past camp seasons have included five weeks of sessions for individual players and teams. Youth camps include the Summer Pups Camp for 5 and 6-year-olds and Lil Zags Camp for 7 to 10-year-olds. Big Dogs between the ages of 11 and 14 have a camp of their own and high school teams can attend a five-day camp. Camps are held at the Patterson Baseball Complex on the Gonzaga campus, which is downtown Spokane near Riverfront Park.

    Spokane Community Colleges

    • The Community Colleges of Spokane host camps for players throughout the year at Spokane Falls or Spokane Community College. Camps vary according to the season and by age level. In 2011, camps include an Advanced Pitching Camp or Advanced Hitting Camp for high school players and a Total Player Development Camp for players ages 9 through 14. CCS coaches host the camps, which are intended to give local athletes the opportunity to refine specific skills in a college setting. SFCC is in west Spokane near Palisades Park while SCC is east of downtown Spokane near Chief Garry Park.
