Quarterback Camps for Kids

Quarterback camps are special training programs for preteen and high school-age quarterbacks. These camps help young players improve their throwing technique, build leadership skills and learn to read defensive schemes. There are several noteworthy programs operating around the United States that will benefit aspiring young quarterbacks.

  1. Camp Quarterback

    • Camp Quarterback is a quarterback training program run by former National Football League quarterback Rob Johnson, along with his father, Bob, and brother, Brett. Coaches run young players through a series of intense drills and workouts to help them improve speed, strength and throwing accuracy. A notable alumnus of this program is New York Jets quarterback Mark Sanchez, who also appears on the Camp Quarterback DVD. The training fee the these camps range from $650 tp $750.

    Jeff Trickey Quarterback Camps

    • This quarterback training program by nationally renowned quarterback coach Jeff Trickey offers camps for youth in grades 4 to 8 and for grades 9 through 12. Trickey's camp emphasizes one-on-one and small group training, and works to improve a young quarterback's mental conditioning as well as physical conditioning and throwing skill. Former or present college and pro quarterbacks round out the coaching staff. Past recipients of Trickey's coaching methods include former Arizona Cardinals quarterback Chris Greisen and Seattle Seahawks quarterback Matt Hasselbeck. The training fee is $165 for high school players and $150 for youth (a $75 fee applies for additional sessions).

    Alamo City Quarterback Camp

    • Alamo City Quarterback Camp is a training camp for emerging quarterbacks from grades 7 through 12. Intended primarily for junior varsity and varsity players from Texas, the camp does accept exceptional players from out of state. Coaches offer one-on-one instruction and help young players build skill and confidence through rigorous repetition drills to improve technique, strength and muscle memory. Only 20 players are accepted for each elite training camp. There is a $215 training fee for this camp.

    Quarterback Academy

    • Founded by Darin Slack in 1988, the Quarterback Academy offers a series of camps at locations around the United States for players ages 8 to 18. The academy's philosophy says the camps exist "for the purpose of making average quarterbacks great, and great quarterbacks elite." The training fee is $695 ($595 for early signup).
