Resident Summer Camps for Kids

Resident summer camps are a great way for children to find themselves through interaction with other children and adults. At camp they will learn and interact with others in groups, learn skills in the different camp programs like sports, arts and crafts or theater, and they will learn leadership and communication skills for the future.

    • Camp Lakota (camplakota.com) is located in the Catskill Mountains in Wurtsboro, New York. The camp is open to boys and girls ages six to 16. The camp offers instructive programs on land and in the water. Some activities for campers include horseback riding, go-carts, theater, arts and crafts, skateboard park and more. The camp is family-owned and received its name from a Native American tribe. Lakota means "friendly and united" which is what the camp strives to establish in its campers.

    Camp Woodmont

    • Camp Woodmont (campwoodmont.com) is located in Cloudland, Georgia and is for boys and girls ages six to 14. The camp holds activities based around nature and the outdoors. Some activities include horseback riding, sports, swimming and talent or skit nights. The staff to camper ratio is 1:5. It has a non-denominational Christian background that is open to all faiths. The camp's structured activities are designed ot to build character and develop relationships.

    Camp Lohikan

    • Camp Lohikan (lohikan.com) is located in the Pocono Mountains at Lake Como, Pennsylvania. It is coed and for ages six to 15. The camp is located on a private lake and activities include sports, arts and crafts, jet skiing, gymnastics, dance and theater. Campers in 5th grade or below follow a structured schedule with their counselors, while campers in 6th grade and above can choose their own activities. The camp hosts a big brother and big sister program that helps form a bond between older and younger campers.

    Incarnation Camp

    • Incarnation Camp (incarnationcamp.com) is located in Ivoryton, Connecticut. It is coed. Camp Pequot is for boys ages seven to 13 and Camp Sherwood is for girls ages seven to 13. Camp Pioneer Village is for boys and girls ages 14 to 15. Incarnation Camp programs help develop an appreciation for nature and accepts a child's individuality. It is located on a private lake and activities include arts and crafts, fishing, canoeing and sports. The camp is a tech-free environments -- cell phones, video games, computers and other electronics are not allowed.

    Colvig Silver Camps

    • Colvig Silver Camps (colvigsilvercamps.com)is located in Durango, Colorado, for boys and girls ages seven to 17. The camp promotes the development of self-esteem, leadership skills, responsibility and teamwork. Activities include arts and crafts, horseback riding, tubing, rock climbing, sports and more. Camp programs strive to aid with the development into caring, thoughtful and responsible adults. Each week campers write one letter to inform their family what they have been doing because calls to home does not help with homesickness. Family members are encouraged to write to campers as well.
