How to Put Your Baseball Clothes On

A professional baseball player, a little leaguer and an adult weekend warrior all have one thing in common -- they put their pants on one leg at a time. Regardless of the level, baseball players mostly dress the same way. Clothes go beyond just making a fashion statement on the diamond. Leagues have clothing rules that players must follow so chaos doesn't happen. For example, Major League Baseball's Rule 1.11(a)(1) states that all players must wear a uniform identical to their teammates. Once you know your league's requirements, there is an art to putting on your baseball clothes.

Instructions

    • 1

Make a checklist and lay out the clothes the night before a game. Players often focus on the upcoming opponent and improving their skills like spending extra time in the batting cages. The last thing they're worrying about is their uniform. You don't want to waste 20 minutes looking for your belt as you're rushing out the door to make the team bus. Knowing exactly all the clothes you need will take a lot of stress off.

    • 2

Put on the clothes that are hidden from view. This includes an undershirt, as well as equipment like a jock strap and a knee brace, if needed.

    • 3

Place on the clothes that are in plain sight. Among the items are your cap, pants, belt, socks and jersey.

Pack extra items in a bag. This often depends on the weather. Spring baseball can get cold, so you'll want to take a jacket, regular winter gloves and possibly hand warmers to get comfortable while you're on the bench. If it's a day game, don't forget your sweatbands and sunglasses.
