DeMarini Hitting Techniques

DeMarini has been manufacturing top quality baseball and softball bats since 1989. The company released the first multi-wall bat in 1993. The first model of the multi-wall bat, named the Doublewall, helped to increase the sweet spot of the bat. The sweet spot refers to the area on the baseball or softball bat where maximum energy is transferred to the batted ball. Ray DeMarini, founder of DeMarini bats, hosted a series of instructional softball videos on ESPN in the late 1980s. Utilize a proper hitting technique to maximize the DeMarini sweet spot.

Instructions

    • 1

Take your position in front of a pitcher or pitching machine. Spread your feet to roughly shoulder-width apart as you assume the proper batting position. Place your non-dominant hand at the bottom of your DeMarini bat, with your dominant hand above it.

    • 2

Slide your hands up or down the handle grip to balance the weight of the bat. Locate the sweet spot of your DeMarini bat, found around the middle of the barrel. Raise the bat behind your head while keeping your elbows parallel with the playing surface. Watch the ball as the pitcher or pitching machine tosses it in your direction.

    • 3

Examine the speed of the ball as it travels through the air to determine how much time you have to prepare. Swing the DeMarini bat forward if you can easily reach the pitch with the sweet spot of the bat. Avoid pitches that travel low to the ground or above your head.

    • 4

Concentrate on striking the ball with the center of the DeMarini barrel as you swing. Maintain eye contact with the baseball or softball as it leaves the sweet spot of DeMarini bat. Continue to swing the bat forward to perform a proper batting technique known as the follow-through.

    • 5

Release your dominant hand from the handle of the bat as it swings across your body. Adjust the angle of the DeMarini barrel to change the direction of your next hit. Attempt to hit the ball away from defensive players during official game play. Practice the proper DeMarini bat swinging techniques to increase your batting skills.
