Tie Breaker Rules for Little League Baseball in Texas
-
Sudden Death
-
In Texas, there is no sudden death. This is in accordance with official Little League rules. If the visiting team is ahead at the end of an inning, the home team still gets a chance to bat. The break a tie is to play as many extra innings as necessary to determine a winner and a loser. All extra innings will follow official Little League rules regarding pitch limits as well as time limits.
Time Limits
-
In Texas Little League, if a game is tied after two hours it will end after the next completed inning where one team is ahead. This rule is in effect in every game in an effort to keep the contests moving along. This rule applies to games that have not reached the standard number of innings to count as a full game. For example, if after two hours team A is beating team B after three innings, the game is over, with team B declared the winner. Additionally, no inning is to start after 9 p.m. If a game is tied at this point it will be suspended and the game will be picked up at a later date right where it left off to break the tie.
Season Standings
-
If there is a tie in the season standings at the end of the official regular season then Little League tie breaker rules will take effect. According to official Little League rules, the first tie breaker will be the head-to-head record of the teams in question. For example, if two teams have the same record at the end of the season, but one team beat the other team two out of three times, the winner of those two games wins the tiebreaker. If all things are equal regarding head-to-head competition, the team with the highest overall winning percentage wins the tie breaker.
