How to Shoot a Shot Falling to the Side
Instructions

1
Place the basketball in the palm of your hand that is in the direction that you are falling. The ball should be positioned above your waste and your other hand will need to be on the side of the ball to help balance it. Square your shoulders to the goal and keep your eyes on the rim.
-
2
Lean to the side with the lower part of your body to begin your fall. Keep the upper half of your body as straight up and down as possible until after you release your shot.
-
3
Shoot the ball halfway through your fall by extending your shooting hand toward the goal. Snap your wrist as you release the ball. Your arm should make a straight line toward the basket as the ball is released. This will take more arm strength than a balanced shot that uses the legs to add to the force. Quickly use your hands to brace your fall.
-
4
Practice releasing the ball later with each try so that in a game you can release the ball in different places, depending on where the defender is positioned in front of you.
-
5
Reverse the direction of your fall and the hand you use to shoot with. Repeat Steps 1 through 5.
