1
Place your motion-activated camera in a place where it can capture the action without getting bumped or moved. You can purchase a number of different motion-activated cameras that will take a photo when something moves within range of a censor.
-
2
Aim the censor. When an object enters the censor's range, the camera will begin shooting photos, usually taking a certain number of shots within a certain number of seconds.
-
3
Aim and adjust the lens. Many motion-triggered cameras have stationary lenses that require you to point the camera toward the action and hope for the best. More advanced cameras have adjustable lenses you can aim where you desire.
-
4
Check the camera batteries to make sure they are fully charged.

5
Place your camera on a tripod. Frame and set your shot. Aim your lens where you know there will be a lot of action.
-
6
Adjust your camera shutter speed to accommodate the rapid action; generally opt for the fastest shutter speed available.
-
7
Set your timer. Many cameras with a timer only give you about 10 seconds before the picture is taken. As soon as the timer is set, begin play quickly to capture the action.
