1
Measure the area for the court. A regulation high school court is 74 feet long and 50 feet wide.

2
Lay concrete. If you aren't a professional carpenter, this may be a bit of an undertaking. You also definitely don't want to do it yourself. Many people would advise you to hire a concrete contractor to lay out your concrete. When your contractor arrives, be sure and mark off where you'll be putting in your goals. The concrete acts as the foundation of your court.

Surface the court. While most gym floors you see do have some concrete underneath them somewhere, they have a surface over it that prevents players from experiencing serious injuries every time they dive for a loose ball. One of the more popular basketball court surfaces is modular suspended tile surfaces. Many companies, like PlayMaker, offer "court-in-a-box" options that allow the consumers to simply pick what size court they are looking to cover and then do it themselves at home. The system is literally a set of tiles that you can lay yourself. The tiles snap together and require almost no upkeep.
