How to Design Your Own Team Basketball Jersey & Shorts

Unique jerseys are essential in sporting events, as they are used to quickly differentiate players on opposing sides. In a rapidly moving game, players in similar jerseys can be mistaken for teammates when they are really on the opposition. When choosing a new uniform design for a team, there are several factors to consider. By following several simple steps, you will ensure that your team receives eye-catching uniforms that properly represent the team.

Instructions

    • 1

Select team colors. The colors can correspond with the colors of the school, business or department the team is representing or those of a desired mascot. You can even choose complementary colors that you feel will add some pizazz to the uniform.

    • 2

Designate a mascot for the team, then add something related to that mascot to the jersey and/or shorts of the uniform. For example, if your team is called the "Roadrunners," you might want to incorporate the bird on your jersey, in some fashion.

    • 3

Select a style for the jersey by examining styles of jerseys in a basketball uniform manufacturer's catalog. Have the manufacturer do a mock-up of the jersey and shorts, using your colors and mascot, to see if that style will complement the two.

    • 4

Assign numbers to the players on the team, and position the numbers on both the front and back of the uniforms.

    • 5

Position the team name on the front of the jerseys, over the front numbers.

    • 6

Place the players' names on the back of the jerseys, over the back numbers, if you desire jerseys that feature the players' names.

    • 7

Ensure that the logo of the team is represented, as a patch, somewhere on the shorts of the uniform.
