How to Install a Bent Arm Ruffneck Basketball Goal

Instructions

      Dig a hole 4 feet deep by 2 feet wide once you determine where you want to play your basketball goal. The basketball pole included with your kit is long enough that it enables you to bury the pole 2 feet into the ground. Most basketball kits include three pole pieces that should be connected using the appropriate screws or nuts and bolts.

      Mix the 850 pounds of dry mix concrete using the easy-to-follow instructions on the back of the concrete bag.

      Fill the hole with concrete and level it off using a trowel. Make sure that you have removed all small rocks and other debris before filling the hole to ensure that your basketball hoop will be balanced.

      Insert the pole to the 48-inch mark. Most RuffNeck systems have 48 inches pre-marked. If not, use a tape measure and measure 48 inches from the bottom of the pole. Use a level to make sure that the pole is centered. If the RuffNeck system you are using has a pole that requires assembly, attach the other pieces of the pole after you have placed the base piece into the ground. Allow the concrete to cure for two days.

      Attach the backboard and rim before attaching the backboard to the pole. RuffNeck basketball systems come with the correct nuts, bolts and screws for assembly. Using your wrench or screwdriver, depending on the instruction manual included with your basketball kit, line up the appropriate holes on the rim and backboard and tighten the screws or bolts into place.

      Climb a ladder to attach the backboard to the basketball pole, using the appropriate nuts and bolts. A standard backboard connects to a basketball pole using six large nuts. Using a wrench, tighten these nuts as tightly as possible to ensure the backboard does not move or fall during play.

      Attach the net to the hooks on the bottom of the rim.
