1
Mount your bicycle. Holding both brakes to keep the bicycle from rolling, press the cleat on the bottom of your shoe into the first Look Keo Sprint pedal. Listen for a sharp "click" to indicate engagement of the cleat with the pedal.
-
2
Release the brakes and roll the pedal smoothly forward to move the bicycle. Once the bicycle is rolling, press the other cleat into the accompanying pedal. Ride the bicycle for awhile to familiarize yourself with the feel of the Look Keo Sprint pedals.
-
3
Pull on the brakes gently to slow the bicycle. Just before the bicycle comes to a stop turn either of your feet out, away from the bicycle, to disengage the foot from the pedal. Use this foot to balance on once the bicycle comes to a stop.
-
4
Disengage one foot from its pedal, and dismount the bicycle. Locate the hollow hex-shaped screw near the back of each pedal. On one side of the screw is a "+" sign. On the other side of the screw is a "-" sign.
-
5
Use a 3 mm Allen key, and rotate the screw clockwise to increase spring tension on the pedal. Begin with a one-quarter turn for each pedal. Increasing tenion binds the foot more securely for more efficient transfer of power. A tighter binding, however, will require more effort to disengage the foot.
-
6
Take the bicycle for a further ride to test the adjustment. Stop frequently, and disengage your feet from the pedals. If you find it difficult to disengage your feet from the pedals, lessen tension on the pedals by using the Allen key to rotate the hex-shaped screw counterclockwise. Alternatively, if you are comfortable disengaging your feet from the pedals and prefer the greater pedal tension, use the Allen key to further rotate the hex-shaped screw clockwise. Maximum adjustment is acheived once a "click" is heard. Note that adding further tension may damage the pedal.
